heike hanada - laboratory of art and architecture
From Bauhaus to your house
Architect Prof. Heike Hanada, laboratory for art and architecture, built a monument to Bauhaus in Weimar in collaboration with Prof. Benedict Tonon from Berlin – a grandiose, exposed concrete cube for the avant-garde of 20th century modernism. Visitors from all over the world can view exhibits from the collection of 13,000 Bauhaus objects, including ones from Wilhelm Wagenfeld, Marcel Breuer, Marianne Brandt, Paul Klee, Lászlo Moholy-Nagy, Lyonel Feininger and Mies van der Rohe.

Art & crafts as one unit
The visitors access the museum via an impressive “Staircase to Heaven” with prefabricated steps made from PANDOMO Terrazzo extending over all 5 storeys. The floor, which is made from light PANDOMO Terrazzo, harmonises perfectly with the concrete ribbed ceiling and the walls made from white slurry concrete. Even the benches and platforms are made from PANDOMO Terrazzo in order to support the bright, airy aesthetics of the interior design. Art and craftsmanship are inextricably linked, which is the basic idea behind Bauhaus. The visitors access the museum via an impressive “Staircase to Heaven” with prefabricated steps made from PANDOMO Terrazzo extending over all 5 storeys.
